The proposals
The proposals should address one of the proposed themes.

Five strands of investigation to explore new horizons:

• The specificity of science communication in universities and research centres

• Public policy with regard to science communication

• Collaborative work and partnership

• Target audiences for science communication

• New tools, new practices

Deadline
The deadline for proposals is February 10, 2012.
Submitted proposals will be reviewed by members of the Scientific Committee. All successful proposals will be notified by April 15, 2012 at the latest and informed about the steps to take. Papers will only be added to the programme when the speakers have registred for the conference.

The deadline for receipt of final papers is July 15, 2012.

Publication

The proceedings will be available online as of October 10, 2012. A printed publication of the proceedings is also considered.

法国对华文化教育中心向您推出人文社科咖啡角系列讲座之二：当代中国新准则的建立。八十年经济改革带来的深刻变化导致了新的社会秩序的诞生。个人和团体在变迁中共同确定新的标准、习俗、规则以辨别什么是可以接受且合理合法的。寻求社会接受的妥协，在中国历史上未曾出现过，它催生了方方面面内涵丰富的规范，其中不乏传统中国和当代中国社会之间的延续和承接。法国国家科学研究院（CNRS）高级主任研究员，法国社会科学高等研究院（EHESS）论文导师，社会学书籍作者Isabelle Thireau女士将通过1980至1990年她在广东村庄和企业调查的具体案例介绍这一准则的建立进程。

EUROPHOTONICS is an Erasmus Mundus program that started in 2010 (coordinator : Universite d'Aix-Marseille).

Grants for Master (2 years) and Doctorate (3 years) can offer to students from all over the world very interesting opportunities to follow high level courses in the partner institutions and to obtain very high level diplomas.

The Master program is accessible to Bachelor students willing to acquire a specialization in optics, photonics, biophotonics, nanophotonics and electromagnetics.
All the courses are taught in English.
For the non EU students the grant is 1000 euros/month plus 3200 euros at the beginning of the master for the installation costs.
For the EU students, the grant is 500 euros/month and the installation money is 700 euros.
The Doctorate program finances co-tutelle PhD thesis between 2 laboratories among the partners of the consortium.
The doctorate program is open to non EU and EU students who have a Master diploma.
The amount of the grants is around 1600 euros/month after taxes.

To celebrate it, the Sciences and Technology department of the French Consulate General and the Alliance Française have set up in Shanghai the Shennong forum, a Sino-French scientific forum dealing with chemistry and its applications.

The molecular cooking week is part of this chemistry forum.

Christophe Lavelle is a research scientist at the CNRS (French National Scientific Research Agency). His main studies concern the regulation of gene expression and the biophysical properties of living matter. Passionate about food and the relationship between science and gastronomy, he teaches molecular gastronomy as well as epigenetics in many French universities. He is also founder and head of the "Science & Cooking" Association and co-organizer of the Annual International Art, Science and Cooking Contest (Paris).  

Noël Gutrin is chef in the Futoroscope Park restaurant (France). He is a member of the Escoffier association, specialized in molecular cooking. He has created several concepts of restaurants (notably in Beijing, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou). He has been collaborating with Hervé This, the father of molecular gastronomy, for ten years.

 Laurence Tubiana is founder of the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI) in Paris. She follows and participates in the international negotiations on climate change, in which IDDRI is highly involved. She is also professor and director of the Sustainable Development Centre at Sciences Po Paris. From May 2009 to May 2010, Laurence Tubiana was asked to set up the new direction of Global Publics Goods of the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. She is a member of several scientific boards of major research institutions such as the French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development (CIRAD), the India Council for Sustainable Development and the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development. From 1997 to 2002, Laurence Tubiana served as senior advisor to the Prime Minister, Lionel Jospin, on environmental issues and conducted a number of international negotiations on this subject. She was also member of the French Council of Economic Analysis and research director for the French National Institute for Agricultural Research (INRA). She has been a representative of the European NGOs at the World Bank and directed the French-based NGO Solagral. Founder of the journal Le Courrier de la Planète, she has published a number of articles and books on environment, development and international issues. Since 2007, she has co-directed the publication of the annual review Sustainable Development in Action – A Planet for Life.

The development and implementation of biorefinery processes is of the upmost importance to meet the vision towards a sustainable economy based on bio-resources. In this context, catalysis, either enzymatic, heterogeneous or homogeneous is playing a major role like this is already the case in a ‘conventional’ refinery based on the treatment and the conversion of petro-resources. Nevertheless, contrary to petro-resources of which the nature and composition variations are ‘relatively’ limited, under the term ‘bio-resource’ or ‘biomass’ are gathered compounds of very different natures, namely cellulose, hemicellulose, oils, lignin and so on… Thus, a complete set of specific technologies must be developed in order to convert each fraction as smartly as possible. This implies, among others, the elaboration of a lot of processes based on catalysis. These latter constitute core technologies that will be implemented in the so-called ‘biorefineries’. Within this frame, we are coordinating the elaboration and the development of the EuroBioRef concept 'EUROpean multilevel integrated BIOREFinery design for sustainable biomass processing', as a 'large-scale' European project. EuroBioRef is a new highly integrated, diversified and sustainable concept, which involves all the biomass sector stakeholders. The potential of all the fractions issued from the various types of biomass is used to yield a value-added as high as possible in a sustainable and economical way. The overall efficiency of this approach will be a vast improvement to the existing situation.

The EuroBioRef novel concept will be presented, in which the central and key role of catalysis will be discussed.
